Yes, because there is always something to decipher. Every stage along the way is a single element of a written passage, of a code. It can be said that the works of f’ coincide with the symbols of a code that must be revealed. The aim of the exercise is however greater than the pleasure of inventing a charade and then solving it. Here the aim is to verify the soundness of a virtue which is presumed to be shared by both the artist and the spectator: that which speakers of the Latin language – and still today lawyers- call, with an ambivalent meaning, fides.
Fides that is trust. The secrets that are part of the artist’s biography are written on squared paper and are then cut out and reassembled in a different sequence in order to form an irregular geometric design (The Tracce Series). A photograph that is never publicly displayed is broken down into pixels which are then transformed into cubes of coloured wood and arranged in the exhibition area according to their different hues. Anyone who is interested can buy a portion of this work in such a way that the image belongs to everyone even though no-one has ever seen it (Dudy Guard). A cryptic phrase is written by joining together pieces of mirror which reflect each other so that what would otherwise be impossible to read becomes legible (Senza Titolo. Oblio).
