DESCRIPTION: Cosimea is a collaborative project by artist Francesco Bertelé and architect Emanuele Cavallo. It envisions a fantasy village suspended between earth and sky, structured around three conceptual spheres:
1. The Fluctuating Sphere
2. The Surface Sphere
3. The Underground Sphere
Cosimea is an ideal village composed of individual dwelling units. It represents a garden of inner forms made visible through bodily gestures and ways of being. These structures reflect a blend of ancient and innovative architectural techniques through their construction methods and materials.
Conceptual framework
The creation of Cosimea begins with observing the animal world, emphasizing humanity's integration within nature rather than its dominance over it.
The creative process is guided by the ethical framework of becoming-animal 1. This approach is not about imitating the animal world but rather exploring and defining the unique essence of each individual as an integral part of the whole.
Core Skills and Objectives of the Project
1. Collective Interaction: Fostering collaboration in both the design and realization phases of the work.
2. Imaginative Projection: Encouraging intimate and personal exploration of ideas and emotions.
3. Material Expertise: Researching, selecting, and working with natural materials essential for green building.
4. Technical Knowledge: Studying ancient building techniques and integrating them with sustainable, bionic-inspired architectural methods.
Through Cosimea, we aim to blend creativity, sustainability, and emotional connection, constructing a village that bridges the natural and the human, the past and the future.
