../Matter and technique: Interacting installation in Virtual & Mixed Reality with ambisonic audio visible through VR headset ( Meta Quest 3)

DESCRIPTION: Hic sunt dracones (release alpha 2026) is a bio-hypermedia installation in virtual and mixed reality, a further development of the Italian Council 2018 winning project. The work stems from an exploratory experience on the island of Lampedusa, subsequently translated into an immersive digital environment constructed from maps, surveys, images and data. Hic sunt dracones can be enjoyed through wireless VR headsets, within a dedicated space, and offers an individual and active mode of use. Upon entering the virtual environment, the viewer is called upon to orient themselves and traverse a space in which physical reality and altered reality overlap, challenging the traditional coordinates of perception. Interaction becomes a central element of the work: it is the viewer's movement, gaze and presence that 'activate' it, bringing out themes such as the manipulation of information, error as a gap between representation and reality, and the symbolic construction of boundaries.
